In a video on , Iyla revealed that her unnamed pal had sent an SOS message for backup to suss out what was skulking in her boot. Tentatively, they cracked the boot lid just a smidge, bracing for the worst – and their blood ran cold at the petrifying sight.
The clip captures the chilling moment the boot swings up and a monstrous dashes behind some carrier bags, drawing gasps of pure terror. Edging closer for a peek, they were thrown into mayhem as the critter dashed for cover once more. For a split second, it seemed the rodent might bound right out of the boot, but instead, it scurried under a pile of clothes stashed in the back of the vehicle.
A stunned Iyla whispered, "Oh my god", before the footage cut, leaving the scrappy rat secure in its newfound lair and the gobsmacked mates grappling with the dilemma of evicting it.
Commenters were equally terrified for Iyla and her friend, suggesting humourously they'd rather "get a new car" than deal with the unwelcome passenger. Others took a more serious tone, stressing the need for a thorough car inspection, pointing out that rodents are known to gnaw through wiring, which is both pricey to fix and risky.

A second responded with their own horror story: "Happened to me. I went to top up the water in my car, and when I lifted the lid, there was a huge rat sitting on the engine. The whole street heard me scream."
And a third warned: "Girl, check your engine. They like to chew through wires because the heat of the car. Please check. This caused our breaks to fail!"
